The Vantage 33M machine is a new high performance concept in Nested Base Manufacturing. The Vantage 33M machine is engineered and manufactured in Weeke's ISO9001 facility in Germany. The Vantage 33M machine already offers the technology of the future. The S/C TECH technology incorporates a vibration and impulse dampening principal that combines welded steel I-beam construction with a cast composite core. This construction allows for Weeke's ability to produce the highest quality parts at positioning speeds of up to 96 M/min (vector). Because of this revolutionary design the Vantage machine acceleration rates are up to 7 times faster than those of other machines. Features molded into the S/C TECH composite core enhance the flow and efficiency of the vacuum hold down system. Vacuum holding power is extremely important for accurate machining of parts at higher speeds, and minimizes scrap. The Vantage machines incorporate Weeke's unique high speed drilling block with Weeke's patented integrated spindle locking system. This assures consistent drill depth even in dense or inconsistent materials. The Bridge is driven by twin "Sercos" digital servo drives, connected to the Beckhoff Realtime Control running under Windows XP Pro. All linear motion surfaces are precision linear bearings with SS covers to reduce contaminates and extend life. All electrical and pnuematic lines are fully enclosed to prevent damage. Table matrix grid is machined on the router and fully aligned with machine axes for accurate fixturing. Full coverage of all tools and working units in the machining envelope. Weeke's BHP 200 Optimat is a truly industrial machine designed primarily for routing, boring, and grooving of flat components that have been nested into full sheets of material.
Weeke is uncompromising with high quality standards. They are an ISO 9001 certified machine tool builder. Weeke uses world class suppliers for critical items not made in house. In fact, most of the externally sourced components are sold and serviced on a worldwide basis and, of course, here in the U.S. Insistence on quality and highly industrialized components results in a very stable process--one that requires a minimum of inspection, preventive maintenance, or repair.
The BHP 200 Optimat is constructed on a steel frame, with heavy steel ribs (gusset plates) welded to the frame inside the base to insure stability. The design and substantial mass provide a solid, vibration-free platform for the machining head. The head rides on THK linear motion guides. In fact, the X-, Y-, and Z-axes are all supported on THK machine tool guides. THK guides were designed to produce straight line tracking at high travel rates, and they have outstanding stability--both in the radial and side directions. The X-axis is driven by two (2) zero-backlash, pre-loaded helically ground rack and pinion gear systems. The Y- and Z-axes are driven by high precision ball screw.
Indramat solid state drives and digital AC servo motors are utilized to move the axes. Fiber-optic cables are used for communication between the drive system and the machine control.
The BHP 200 Optimat features a Windows based control with intuitive programming software. In addition to the software in the machine control, a program is included (on CD-ROM) for installation on other PC’s. With a PC in the office, the machine can be programmed off-line using the same intuitive icon driven software the operator has in the machine's computer control.
